Hindustan Times carried a news titled ‘Pak Ploy: Implicate Indians Abroad for Global Terror Parity’, stating that officials in the national security agencies and South Block are now convinced that Pakistan has embarked on a tit-for-tat designation of Indian nationals as terrorists under U.N Security Council’s 1267 Al Qaida Sanctions Committee. It stated: “Last week, Pakistan, with the support of China moved the 1267 Al Qaida Sanctions Committee to designate two Indians global terrorists after accusing them of past terror attacks in Balochistan and Peshawar, and even registered FIRs against them. India while pursuing the narrative published in news seems to have forgotten Khulbhushan Jadhav who is in Pakistani custody and his case has already been decided by ICJ in favour of Pakistan.
Economic Times daily in a write-up stated that in a move to counter terror in the region, India and Afghanistan formalized operation of extradition treaty that would enable extradition of Pakistani terrorists operating out of Afghan territory. Ambassador Kumar and Acting Foreign Minister Afghanistan Idrees Zaman took a step closer to cement bilateral relations by exchanging Instruments of Ratification of India vis-a-vis Afghanistan Extradition Treaty signed in 2016. But fact of the matter is that there are no Pakistani terrorists in Afghanistan. In essence it is TTP, a proxy of NDS and RAW that went on with terror spree in Pakistan for over a decade. Pakistan has always maintained that Afghan soil is being used against her, evidence of which has been shared with UN, US, India and Afghanistan too.
According to Times of India, in a major step towards enhancing coordination among the three services, the special forces of Army, Navy and Air Force have been deployed in the Kashmir valley to carry out combined counter-terrorist operations. The three special forces, namely, the Army’s Para (Special Forces), Navy’s Marine Commandos and Indian Air Force’s Garud Special Forces are being deployed in the Kashmir valley under the Defence Ministry’s newly-raised Armed Forces Special Operations Division. But the world now understands that reign of terror perpetrated by Indian forces have no parallel in the history. It is merely an optics gimmick to present high threat level. However, it also raises doubt on quality of Indian army to handle which required reinforcement from other services.
The Hindu carried a news item stating that Sri Lankan President Gotabaya Rajapaksa ahead of his visit to New Delhi said that he wanted to work very closely with both India and China. Gotabaya Rajapaksa has reportedly said his government will not do anything that would threaten India’s security. He said that our involvement with China is purely commercial. However, Sri Lanka can never forget the despicable role played by India in proxy war on its soil. LTTE was fully funded and supported by India in an attempt to destabilize Sri Lanka and create a homeland for Tamils. While new President has aired routine pleasantries, it does not say that Sri Lanka will not do anything to further its national interests. Anyhow, misinterpretation or giving a twist to the statements is Indian media’s hallmark.
Deccan Chronicle daily stated that “NIA court found six people arrested in connection with a 2016 Islamic State terror plot case, guilty of conspiring to carry out strikes across Kerala and neighboring states. They have been found guilty under various sections of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) including offences relating to membership of a terrorist organization and support given to a terrorist organization”. It has become a matter of routine for Indian government to link every terror related act to Islam, be it a local, a secessionist, a RSS or BJP worker, Muslims are blamed for every act. In any case, UAPA is a repressive act that allows government to detain any person for indefinite period without any charge.
