ISLAMABAD, December 12: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) took notice of the Punjab Institute of Cardiology (PIC) clash and suspended the license of Bar Association General Secretary for forcibly removing the lawyers from the court during proceedings.
Chief Justice IHC Athar Minallah issued a notice in this regard, while also suggesting to launch a contempt of court proceeding against him. The IHC has summoned the IHCBA general secretary for hearing on December 19.
The chief justice suspended Secretary Umair Baloch’s lawyer’s licence for the high court till the next hearing of the case. The court in its notice asked Umair Baloch to explain why the contempt of the court proceedings should not be initiated against him over interference in the court proceedings.
The court also issued notices to vice chairman Pakistan Bar Council, President Supreme Court Bar Association and Advocate General Islamabad Niazullah Niazi. On the other hand, advocate Tariq Asad filed a constitutional petition in the Supreme Court over PIC riot. – Agencies
