Was sending foreign minister to Iran, Saudi Arabia and US really all that necessary? What was the big deal in it ?Aren’t we a bit overconfident in our belief that the leaders of the three countries which the FM visited would give their ear to us about the pros and cons of the recent imbroglio in the middle East? We aren’t a super power nor can we influence Washington and Riyadh who have been our almoners. Tehran too looks at us with a suspecting eye over our too much dependence on the US in the past.
We should be concentrating instead, more and more, on Balochistan whose law and order situation is far worse than it was ever before. Our enemies have been trying to stir sectarian trouble in that province by suicide bombings of mosques and imam bargahs. It is pitiable that our rulers both past and present have been long on rhetoric and short on action regarding developmental activity in Balochistan with the result that in contrast to their lofty claims of gigantic development activity carried out by them in that province very little work has been carried out in various sectors of life. The Baloch leaders complain that while sui gas is being used in the entire country it is pitiable that the people of the areas which produced that gas are deprived of this utility. The authorities must answer this allegation by presenting factual position in parliament as the common perception is that it were Baloch nationalist tribal leaders like Akbar Bugti who had opposed extension of sui gas facility in the Bugti area. The people must know the inside story so that no misunderstanding is created in the minds of our Balochi brethren.
