Many countrymen were shell-shocked hearing the president saying that he wasn’t aware of atta crisis in the country. Doesn’t he read newspapers or see TV?Time was when late prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto had ordered that the PID should make it a point that a two-page Pakistan Press Report is present on his breakfast table every morning containing a gist of important news, editorials as well as columns. If that exercise is no longer in vogue the PID had better restart it at once so that the VVIPs do not remain in the dark about important happenings in the country.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman has been flexing his muscles once again but hitherto barring Pasthoon Khawa Milli Party, Jamiat Ahle Hadees, Quami Watan party and the JUP no other political party has given him any positive response. The political pundits don’t rule out the possibility of the present allies of the Maulana going to the next polls under a single political banner along with him. The Maulana is grieved by the lukewarm help of both the PPP and Nawaz League to his last sit-in programme in the federal capital. The JI is out on a limb and at the moment Maulana Sirajul Haque is on a solo flight. The marriages of convenience of the JI first in the MMA and then with the PTI did not pan out according to the wishes of the JI. It is yet to be seen whether it goes to the next polls singlehandedly or would it take a new partner.
All the well wishers of this country want books for the children, employment for the youth and respect for the elderly. Hitherto, achievement of these three objective appear to be a far cry.
