Pakistan and India, the arch-rivals of world cricket are all set to take on each other in the first semi-final of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup at the JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom on Tuesday. The match has always been a high-pressure clash as the expectations are always high on both sides of the border.
The winners will secure a spot of the most renowned cricket competition among juniors on the February 9 final. The two groups are unbeaten in the competition, India winning against Sri Lanka, Japan, and New Zealand in the group stages whereas they outclassed the Australians in the quarter-final stage.
Pakistan have so far demonstrated incredible performance in all the departments of the game as they slaughtered Scotland in the opening fixture and confined Bangladesh to 106 for nine in the rain-affected match. They got stumble against Zimbabwe but were quick to bounce back courtesy a great batting display from young Mohammad Haris.
The bowlers also bundle out the neighbors’ Afghanistan in the quarter-final clash for 189 and later chased the target with the help of Mohammad Huraira, who made his debut on such a massive occasion.
Pakistan have the upper hand while competing against India in this competition as they won five out of the nine matches, while India have won four contests but India got the better of them in the 2018 edition in the semi-final clash as Pakistan lost the match by a heavy run margin of 203.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is the only Indian batsman to score more than 100 runs in the competition up until now. He has scored 207 runs with three half-centuries. Divyansh Saxena and the captain Priyam Garg are additionally essential batsmen for India. In the bowling department, Kartik Tyagi (9 wickets) and Ravi Bishnoi (11 wickets) will be the main weapon for India.
For Pakistan, Muhammad Huraira scored a very much accumulated 64 in his first WC game against Afghanistan.
