Eyebrows of those who want a clean government in this country were naturally raised over a news item carried by a section of the Press recently that a business partner of a federal minister has been allotted two storeys in the famous Ramna building located in the most posh area of the federal capital in an auction which is being billed as highly controversial by other bidders who also took part in the said auction
Earlier the media had been abuzz also with the news of involvement of some highly placed political personalities moving in the corridors of power in the recent skyrocketing increase in the price index of atta as well as sugar . Obviously , such incidents bring a bad name to the government .
Meanwhile the common perception that has , unfortunately, spread throughout the nook and corner of the country recently is that most of the ministers are not up to their job and if things are deteriorating in the country instead of improving it is mainly because of their incapability and lack of capacity to solve the myriad issues being faced by the country. The luck is smiling on the federal government only because the opposition is a house divided against itself and, moreover, reputation of almost all leading opposition leaders is soiled with stories of corruption so much the the people have no or very little choice to bank on any one of them for bailing them out out of the present economic imbroglio.
Let us admit that extreme uncertainty prevails in the country . It is becoming exceedingly difficult for the man in the street to make both ends meet. At the moment he is enduring financial constraints in the hope that maybe his tomorrow is better than his today but if the current economic impasse lasted for more than 6 months it might become difficult for the government to justify its existence. Make no mistake.
