There was a strong reaction in many political quarters of the country over the alleged advice of the IMF to Pakistan that it had better reduce its dependence on the CPEC. This reaction is quite natural and it reflects the feelings of the common man of this country It also proves, if any proof is needed, that Washington highly disapproves Pakistan’s grown and growing links with Beijing. It has never digested close ties of Pakistan with China .That most of our rulers in the past played second fiddle to Washington is unfortunate .Time has certainly come ,when taking a lesson from the past , we should give a wide berth to Washington now as its friendship has given us more harm than good
China is a political and military force to be reckoned with. The Americans thought that once they succeeded in dismantling the mighty Soviet empire they would become the sole super power and the world would become unipolar. Little did they know that China would emerge soon as a mighty economic power on the world stage much stronger than what the Soviet Union
was at one point in time. The Yankees are once again playing the same game which they had played for dismembering Soviet Union. Their focus now is to stir trouble inside China and to create hindrances in the way of CPEC which they know would strength China economically many times over than its present economic prosperity.
Pakistan’s close association with Beijing is a sore in their eyes. Small wonder that the IMF which is under Washington ‘s influence has been looking with disapproving eyes on Pakistan’s close association with the CPEC and coming up of Gwadar as an International seaport .
