Both Ashraf Ghani and Abdullah Abdullah made a fool of themselves by taking oath of the President of Afghanistan. Can a country have two presidents ?The world is laughing at them. This episode smacked of political immaturity and intolerance of these two Afghan leaders. It was strange to boot because the general perception is that the Afghan politicians are a politically shrewd people who never shut the doors of negotiations with their political adversaries and they always keep them ajar. These two johnnies also belonged to that long list of Afghan rulers since 1947 who had been trying at the behest of their Indian almoners to fan linguistic jingoism in the KPK. Ironically they have been hoisted with their own petard. A conglomerate of different tribes like Pashtoons, Tajiks, Hazaras and Uzbaks live off Afghanistan They speak different languages . No single group out of them can form government in Kabul on its own steam. Out of them the Tajiks appear to be more urbanised and ratio of education in them is higher than the other groups. There is no love lost between them and the Uzbaks because they disparage the Uzbak king Timerlane whom they accuse of massacring Persian speaking Tajiks . The Hazaras are the descendents of Changez Khan who were in his army when he attacked Afghanistan . Some of them had stayed back in Afghanistan when Changez Khan left for Mongolia after ransacking Afghanistan.
POSTSCRIPT: The road condition of Motorway between Islamabad and Peshawar is miserable. It required urgent repairs. A very little time has lapsed since it was made operational That it should have decayed in such a short time naturally raises many an eyebrow about the quality of work.
