Dictatorship is not a good thing but lucky are the nations which are blessed with benevolent dictators. Since the word of their mouth is law, they get sufficient time to translate into reality whatever they have in their mind for the good of the common man. They don’t have to go through the rigmarole of long and tedious parliamentary procedures to get things done More often than not, they fail to carry out required legislation for lack of numerical strength in parliament. The present Chinese president, it seems, is going to remain at the helm of affairs as long as he lives The Communist party of China which runs the show in China has asked him to remain in his present position till the time he joins the great majority. He has, since his first day as president of his country carried out far reaching economic reforms in his country and has also stamped out corruption from high places in China, besides, making his country militarily strong. It is very much true that barring an odd exception, the leadership thrown up by the Communist party of China following Mao’s revolution in 1949 has been, by and large financially clean and dedicated to the cause espoused by Mao Zedong and Chou-E -Lai and their likes.
In Moscow too one can see Putin tightening his grip on power and before long the Russian Duma will allow him to run the show till 2036. Putin represents those Russians who have been licking their wounds following the collapse of Soviet Union for which they hold Gorbochev responsible. They also suspect a big hand of the American CIA in masterminding the dismantling of the Soviet empire. Putin has been going the whole hog in rebuilding Russia as super power once again.
