If you have recently travelled on Peshawar-Islamabad motorway you must have noticed signs of cracks and small ditches appearing on it at a number of places on its both roads. If urgent repairs weren’t carried out , chances are that the condition of these roads which are taking a heavy load of traffic can worsen . It is a pity that these roads should have developed these crevices at such an early stage after their construction as they were completed and made functional not long ago. Maybe these defects have cropped up because of the sub-standard material used in their construction or those who are responsible for looking after the maintenance of these roads have been allowing heavily loaded big trucks with many wheels to ply on them as a result of which the roads have started caving in at a number of places.
It has also been noticed that the wires which fence these roads and are a sort of protection against the movement of cattle towards these roads from the villages adjacent to them have been cut or broken at a number of places as a result of which it isn’t difficult now for the cattle to walk over to these roads thus causing a direct threat to vehicles and passengers travelling in them. These vehicles are driven by their drivers at a fast speed secure in the knowledge that there is going to be no obstruction on the motorway. It is certainly posing a big traffic hazard. It is important that these things shouldn’t escape the attention of those whose job it is to ensure a safe and uninterrupted flow on these roads.
