ISLAMABAD, March 16: Special Assistant to Prime Minister on National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination Dr. Zafar Mirza has assured that government is keeping a close eye on the situation in the wake of spread of Coronavirus and is taking appropriate steps.
Addressing a news conference in Islamabad on Monday, he said the Coronavirus cases in Pakistan have jumped to 94 from 53 in past 24 hours. He said seasonal flue and fever does not require testing for Coronavirus and only those people need to have tests who have recently returned from abroad and are facing symptoms like fever, cough or difficulty in breathing.
He said fourteen laboratories in major cities of Pakistan have been provided with diagnostic kits by the government that will hold free tests of people. He said Prime Minister Imran Khan is personally monitoring and supervising the situation.
The Special Assistant warned the people to beware of private testing labs that are offering tests for Coronavirus. He said there is no need to panic as the number of Coronavirus patients is still low in Pakistan. He also made it clear that there is no need for a normal healthy person, who is neither attending any corona affected patient or suffering from this virus, to use masks.-PR
