Says Govt trying to ensure easy availability of medicines

DERA GHAZI KHAN, March 18: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Wednesday directed not to compromise on quality of facilities at quarantine centres in order to curtail the risk of the spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19).
The prime minister presided over a meeting in Dera Ghazi Khan and reviewed steps taken to prevent coronavirus outbreak.
During the meeting, Imran Khan was briefed about the steps taken on coronavirus pandemic.
The Prime Minister was also briefed about arrival of pilgrims and steps taken for their screening to check coronavirus, residence, food, and drinking facilities at the Command and Control Room in Dera Ghazi Khan.
PM Imran also visited the quarantine center at DG Khan and inquired after the zaireen staying there.
The prilgrims expressed happiness on the arrival of the prime minister and satisfaction over the facilities being provided to them.
Adviser to Prime Minister on Health, Dr. Zafar Mirza, Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar and Chairman NDMA also accompanied the Prime Minister.
Earlier on Wednesday, PM Imran said it is government’s utmost effort to ensure easy availability of life saving and other important medicines to the people at reasonable rates.
He was chairing a meeting regarding the performance and responsibilities of Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) in Islamabad.
The PM has directed to accelerate efforts to make the DRAP a fully functional and vibrant body. Manpower requirements of the organization should be fully met, he added.
The premier said all necessary measures need to be taken for creation of separate departments of policy making and policy implementation in the DRAP.
The meeting also discussed matters pertaining to Pakistan Medical and Dental Council.
The PM further directed to complete all the matters regarding the council as per the judgment of the Supreme Court so that the doctors and others associated with the profession are not faced with any difficulty.-APP
