If the coronavirus has, on the one hand, affected the economy of the country tremendously, on the other it has saddened the heart of the opposition leaders also, as by the force of circumstance they now cannot persuade their henchmen to take to the streets against the government for atleast another 3 or 4 months. It means that for another couple of months they would have very little on their hands. The most which they could do during this period is to come on the electronic media and keep the cauldron of their politics on the boil.
Death laid its icy cold hands on General (retd) Syed Ifthikhar Hussain Shah, former Governor of the KPK a couple of days ago. He was a thorough gentleman, a very good administrator who understood the psyche of the tribesman of former FATA quite well. . During his stint in office as governor KPK he carried out many developmental schemes throughout the province including the tribal area His contribution in the education sector was monumental.. He was known for his financial integrity. He was a go_getter type of a person who didn’t suffer fools gladly. What a pity that due coverage wasn’t given to the news of his funeral which went unnoticed in most of the media whether print or electronic.
POSTSCRIPT: In order to counter malacious propaganda of India and Afghanistan against Pakistan through All India Radio and Radio Kabul there is a dire need that border and external publicity wing of Radio Pakistan should be revived with full strength. Our governments, both past and present, have been meting out step motherly treatment to Radio Pakistan and maximum and effective use of this vital organ is not being made.
