The Chief Secretary KPK has written to all the administrative secretaries under his jurisdiction to ensure that the line departments under them do cooperate with the deputy commissioners as heads of these departments don’t even attend to the telephone calls of the DCs. What a pity that the District Magistrate who once used to be the linchpin of district administration should have become so helpless that the heads of district line department don’t care a fig for him! That he should have fallen on such bad days is unfortunate . The rulers who have been in the saddle since 1971 have none else to blame but themselves for this state of affairs. They had been instrumental in weakening the institution of Deputy Commissioner intentionally with the result that the law and order of the districts has gone to the dogs . Too much political interference in their work and its politicisation have done irreparable damage to this institution. Since long the powers that be have been posting their blue eyed boys as DCs by blowing to smithereens merit and this has dented the quality of this institution.
Our economy was picking up gradually and it was hoped that within a year or so our difficult days will be well behind us when all of a sudden Coronavirus set us back . It has jolted our economy and we might now have to wait a bit longer for seeing our economy finding its feet . New loans would obviously be taken thus adding more burden on our already overstretched economy.
