In an article, “Digital Generation will Lead Change”, Tapscot contradicts the traditional viewpoint that youth of the present age are internet-centered and dumb. The author believes that the present-day generation is tech savvy and smart. The writer is very optimistic about today’s youth and consider them ‘net generation'(Tapscott,2012). Moreover, the writer appreciates the today’s youth and says that these people have adopted digital technology in such a way as their parents had learnt to use toaster or fridge. In my view, youngsters of 21st century are advanced as the surroundings have improved their multitasking skills beside developing their creative and thinking facilities, moreover the digital-age has learnt to be more effective and efficient in accomplishing their personal and professional tasks.
Generation Z is no doubt a digital-age because they have improved their multitasking skills. The credit goes to fastest changing technologies and the management of many apps simultaneously on a small digital device which has become a need nowadays. Checking emails, using different various apps, calling people and keeping somebody on hold require multitasking skills which are being managed by generation Z successfully. In a 2015 study, researchers stated that ” use of digital technology has enhanced multitasking skills of young individuals” (Gloria, 2015,p.3). It has been seen that young people of the present age spend much of their time exploring latest gadgets and they have also learnt how to use different technologies at a time. It is the use of the various apps and devices that has made youth to multitask. The research article specifically involves that
The process of multitasking expects to perform more jobs at a time and also requires to switch from one application to another beside using different emails and social media websites concurrently. (Maria, 2015, p.3)
It is very hard to move with the world without knowing the prevalent technologies as they are being employed in almost every profession of the advanced world. Being part of a tech-driven age, young people of this age hone their technological skills faster than the previous generations. The smart phone technology has made young people fast, correct and courteous in their dealings. In sum, ‘the present tech age’ has equipped itself with the skill of multitasking.
Creative and thinking skills of the digital age have been improved with the fastest changing world. The students have more information about the computer languages and applications since they have opened their eyes in this age. All the computer programs have been developed through logic and design, so the ushers have to use logical thinking to run any computer software. Moreover, every computer program whether it is a system software or an application software needs logic to understand it and to apply it for useful purposes. In a 2012 study, a researcher stated that “ability to use creative and higher-order thinking processes relate to modern technology” (Rubin, 2012, p.2). It is believed that the environment reflects people’s thinking and an intelligent and fast paced world shows positivity of people and vice versa. The author of the article further believes that
Teacher, parents and even most of the students accept that the modern age technology has transferred creative and thinking skills of young people nowadays.
(Rubin, 2012, p.2)
In sum, it can be said that the youth of today are more open and creative in their approach and logic due to the competitive advantage they have over the previous generation.
The young people of the present age has become more efficient and effective in their day-to-day personal and professional works due to the information technology. Knowledge of the basic technology has become a need nowadays so it is necessary for every individual to know it to avoid any financial loss. Moreover, efficiency and effectiveness are key ingredients of the digital technology so when users use this technology, they learn to be more effective and efficient in using limited resources which is a highly valuable skill in the present world. In addition to it, all the latest computer programs have been developed keeping in mind the limited resources and unlimited desires of humanity so it is a direct message for the user of a program to increase productivity by depending on limited available resources. In a 2017 study, researchers stated that ” the exposition of the children in young age to digital gaming favors advantage of learning capability beside improving their cognitive skills”, (Giacomo,2017, p.5). Unlike a general perception that gaming on computers spoil mental capability of children, the research supports gaming and believes the computer games make students think through various angles which opens their vision to the world. The study further finds that
Smart learning has become a common practice these days which is an outcome of the technology based learning and understanding. (Giacomo, 2017, p.6)
Therefore, it can be stated that technology has transformed the present-age into effective and efficient users of fewer resources which paves grounds for their success.
In conclusion, the digital-age will lead as they have increased their ability to perform more jobs simultaneously beside honing their creativity to do their works innovatively and improving their efficiency to increase output by making use of limited ways.
