RAWALPINDI, April 26: The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday that nine terrorists were killed and two soldiers embraced martyrdom during a clash in North Waziristan tribal district.
The ISPR added that one soldier was injured during the clash, while one terrorist was apprehended.
The clash happened following an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Khaisura and Dossali areas of the district. “Security Forces conducted IBO on credible information about presence of terrorists in Khaisura and Dossali areas of North Wazaristan District late last night. During sanitization of area; fire exchange took place between terrorists and security forces,” said the ISPR.
The military identified the martyrs as Lance Naik Abdul Waheed, 29, from district Muzafarabbad, He was married and is survived by three sons and a daughter. SepoySakum Dad, 33, from Abbotabad. He was married and is survived by a son and a daughter.
This is the fourth reported clash between security forces and terrorists in North Waziristan since the start of April.
On April 20, a soldier was martyred and three others injured in a terrorist attack on a military check post. Earlier on April 14, another Army soldier was martyred during a shootout with terrorists in North Waziristan and a day earlier on April 13, another soldier embraced martyrdom in a shootout with terrorists. Two terrorists were also killed in the operation.
Later, the soldier martyred in an exchange of fire with terrorists in North Waziristan region was laid to rest with full military honours.
A unit of the Pakistan Army paid tribute to the martyred soldier, SepoySaqum Dad, by presenting guard of honour.
Floral wreaths laid on the grave of the martyred solider on behalf of the president and the army chief.-TLTP
