In 1970s no one in wildest thoughts would have imagined that Soviet Union and Yugoslavia would cease to exist. But these federations had on provincial level separate ethnic & linguistic identities. Fall of Communism signaled the erosion of the federations which are history now1/2.

2/2 We have a lesson to learn from Soviet Union & Yugoslavia. Pakistan today is the only Federation in the world whose units happen to be autonomous provinces on separate linguistic and ethnic identities. 18th amendment was a time bomb planted in the constitution. Defuse it now.

Sheikh Rasheed has endorsed the rumours that the top opposition leaderships have agreed to a formula by which they would earn reprieve and acquittal in return for their support to quash the 18th amendment and to bring about a substantial change in the political system. Worth it.
