The working visit of President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov to Istanbul, Turkey, which took place on Nov. 11-12, has ended, the press service of the head of state reported. On the first day of the visit, Zhaparov met with representatives of the largest Turkish business, where they discussed the prospects for investment and industrial cooperation, the development of public-private partnerships, interaction in the agricultural sector, mining and light industry, hydropower and other industries.
Continuing the working visit, the head of state, along with other leaders of the Turkic Council, took part in the opening ceremony of the new headquarters of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States (CCTS) Secretariat in Istanbul.
During the 8th CCTS Summit, he made a speech in which he noted the important role of the organization in the international arena, as well as the readiness of Kyrgyzstan to continue to take an active part in the relations and brotherhood of the Turkic world, making a significant contribution to the development of the integration processes of the Turkic states. The president called on the member states of the CCTS for unity and harmonization of interaction in all areas of cooperation.
Sadyr Zhaparov also expressed unity of opinion with all the leaders of the member countries of the Turkic Council on renaming and raising the status of the CCTS to the Organization of Turkic States.
Following the Summit, the leaders of the countries signed a number of documents, in particular on changing the name of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States to the Organization of Turkic States, on granting Turkmenistan observer status in the Organization of Turkic States, the Declaration of the 8th Summit of the Organization of Turkic States, the decision to adopt the strategic document “Visions of the Turkic World 2040 “, On the completion of the creation of the Turkic Fund, etc.
On the sidelines of the Summit, Sadyr Zhaparov held bilateral talks with President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
During the talks, the sides discussed topical issues of strengthening cooperation in the political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, outlined plans for cooperation in the near future. After completing his working visit, Sadyr Zhaparov returned to Bishkek on the morning of Nov. 13.
