Malik Zaheer Babar

The Sialkot incident is another brutal and horrible incident in our beloved country. In specific terms, its not the first brutal mob justice incident. The fact is that, we as a nation are used to these types of events. The ex-governor of Punjab Salman Taseer was assassinated in January 2011 by his own police guard. It is on record how the killer of Salman Taseer, Malik Mumtaz Qadri , the commando of the Elite police force received protocol from the public. In March 2016, the funeral of Malik Mumtaz Qadri also gave us a message that the writ of the state is no longer strong enough. After the hanging of Mumtaz Qadri, the emergence of Tehreek-e-Labaik has clearly proved to use once again how much tolerance and awareness is needed in our society. The murder of the Sri Lankan manager has once again reminded us about the worst case of religious extremism in our society.
Apparently, the issue is that we never understood the root cause of the issue. If we cannot find that root cause, then how can we properly resolve it. In our neighborhood country, Hindu extremism is present in its worst form. In this regard, prominent example is BJP. We all know how the RSS played a key role in promoting Hindu extremism in the Indian political fabric. In other words, it were the Indian politicians who were successful in defeating secularism in their country. In Indian political circles, BJP has proved to be a threat for all of their political opponents. The dynamics of Indian politics never allow a politician to create uncertainty in their political career. Here, we must understand the definition of politician and leader. A leader gives direction and the idea of progress and prosperity, whilst a politician is only focused on winning the election, and rarely devotes any thought to thinking about how a politician is focused on winning the election. Most of the time, they have never ever thought to reshape the society for the better.
In our beloved country, we all know that the ruling party and the opposition are blaming each other about all major issues including religious extremism. The bitter fact is that the majority of our politicians only need political advantage about this maniac. Now the situation is that, in English journalism, some writers have come forward and raised their voices about this issue. However, the Urdu media outlets seem to be very careful in their approach. In this context, it is becoming a serious issue that in the war against extremism we have lost more than seventy thousand lives including those of common citizens and uniformed personnel. Our economy has badly suffered as a result of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. However, in the end, as a nation we ave become more successful. The question is what happens now. To eliminate terrorism after the APS attack, the PMLN government announced a twenty point national action plan. It is important that, in these days, our government officials claim that due to the plan, there exists no more extremism on our soil and that sooner or later, the country will become a peaceful state. Unfortunately, the major points of the National Action Plan have not been addressed, which is why till date, the political and religious extremist groups have proven their presence in different ways.
