ISLAMABAD, March 12: Maulana Fazal-ur-Rahman on Saturday declared that while CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif has agreed to amendments in the ‘Protection of Women Against Violence Bill’ he has told the CM that the matter has gone beyond redressal through an amendment.
The chief of the Jamiat Ulema Islam (JUIF) told journalists in Lahore that if the government was ready to amend the bill then it should not have been passed in secrecy. He complained that his recommendation to abolish the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was ignored at the time of the 18th amendment and today even the prime minister has reservations on NAB. Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman told journalists that the women protection bill is in against the teachings of the Holy Quran and Sunnah.-Agencies
