Odds are that Tel Aviv might carry out surgical strikes against Iran’s nuclear installations any time soon for which various options are being considered by the Israeli military establishment.The Middle Eastern countries today are sharply divided in their policy about Israel. There are many who now nurse a soft corner in their heart about Tel Aviv. Israel has been able to win over the sympathy of some important middle eastern countries through a diplomatic offensive over the years who are no longer as hostile to it as Iran is.Washington has been licking the wounds of diplomatic set backs received by it at the hands of Iran from the day the men of the cloth have been in the saddle in Iran after Imam Khomeini ushered in Islamic revolution by toppling Shahinshah of Iran who was an American stooge.
There is no love lost between Riyadh and Tehran.The rulers of Emirates are not as dyed in the wool enemies of Israel as Iran is.The recent statement of the Russian president Putin that he would try his utmost to ensure that Israel and muslim countries of the middle east hit it off might look like a tall claim but if he succeeds in his mission it can go a long way in removing a big irritant that is a constant source of disturbance of the world peace.
Till yesterday nobody could even think of close contacts between Israel and any muslim country.It was, therefore, amazing to see Israeli premier landing in Abu Dhabi the other day after using airspace of Saudi Arabia and being presented with a guard of honour at the airport.
