First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Nuran Niyazaliyev met on Thursday with Ambassador of Ukraine to Kyrgyzstan Valery Zhovtenko, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry’s press service said. The sides stressed the importance of further strengthening of bilateral dialogue and increase of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, expressed intention to hold joint events in 2022 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Ukraine. An agreement was reached to hold political consultations and prepare a schedule of events and contacts for 2022.
In order to promote trade and economic cooperation, the deputy minister and the ambassador discussed the possibility of holding the next meeting of the Kyrgyz-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, organizing business forums, and resuming direct air links. For further development of cultural and humanitarian relations, it was proposed to consider the possibility of holding joint cultural events, including installation of monuments to Chyngyz Aitmatov in Kiev and Taras Shevchenko in Bishkek. The sides touched upon issues of interaction between the two countries at international venues, the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic and mutual recognition of vaccination certificates.
