RAWALPINDI, December 29: Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Wednesday declared that Nawaz Sharif’s return to Pakistan will make no difference and claimed that Prime Minister Imran Khan would eradicate inflation in the fifth year of his tenure.
Addressing media men in Rawalpindi, Sheikh Rasheed said “I will give visa and passport to Nawaz Sharif if he informs me about the date of his return.” Sheikh Rasheed dismissed talks in political circles of Nawaz Sharif’s purportedly planned return to Pakistan as “useless chat”.
He said “unnecessary hype” was being created around Nawaz Sharif’s return, adding it was unfortunate for Pakistan that people “who spent most of their life here eventually leave the country instead of loving it”. He said that his party (AML) was a ‘forever coalition partner’ of the PTI government and maintained that the next year was for local government elections.
To a question, the minister said eradicating poverty was the government’s top agenda. Mini-budget would be passed at any cost, emphasising that it was necessary to control the dollar rate. “Imran Khan will complete his term of five years and we will contest next elections also under his leadership,” he added. Sheikh Rasheed said that every party wants the establishment to support it but the establishment says that it will only support the elected government of the country. – DNA
