ISLAMABAD, March 13: Agricultural development is possible by facilitating farmers with new technology. PARC with the collaboration of provinces and Ministry of NFS&R are working towards self sufficiency in agriculture. PARC is providing food security assurance by its activities and experts ideas. This is stated by Dr. Nadeem Amjad, Chairman PARC and Dr. M. Azeem Khan, Director General, NARC while addressing to scientists and employees of organization. Dr. Nadeem Amjad said that recent rainfall will be beneficial for some crops. He also said that Prime Minister of Pakistan has shown his keen interest for development of agriculture sector in the country. He said that we are so much self sufficient in wheat production but we have to produce the disease free varieties if we want the completion of our goals. He said that during recent Travelling Wheat Seminar it seems that no rust disease affected crop found in Sindh and it is so encouraging news for the people who are directly or indirectly connected with it. He also said that future of agriculture in Pakistan is lied in Balochistan and we have to provide all possible facilities to the province. Director General NARC, Dr. Azeem Khan said in his address at the occasion that olive cultivation will help to boost country’s economy and the cultivation of olive will be more beneficial if it has been cultivated in its ecological zones. He said that for the sake of agricultural development and betterment of farmer’s livelihood agriculture scientist will continue their support by all means.-PR
