ISLAMABAD, December 29: India has once again started construction of controversial projects on the Indus River in violation of the Indus Water Treaty, Pakistan has strongly protested on the issue.
According to sources, India has started construction of six controversial projects on the Indus River coming under Pakistan’s jurisdiction. Pakistan has informed the Indian Indus Water Commission of its concerns. Indian Indus Water Commissioner PK Saxena is expected to visit India by March Sources said that India is constructing a 12-megawatt Tamasha hydropower project on the Indus River, a 19-megawatt Darbak Shivak hydropower project is also being constructed while India has announced a 24-megawatt demolition project. Kargil Henderman of 25 MW, Kimingdam Sangraka of 19 MW has also been announced and it has been decided to build 18.5 MW Snook project. He strongly protested against the controversial plans and termed it as water terrorism and said that these clever tactics were tantamount to quenching the thirst of 22 crore people.
