The keenness of our Government to pull India into her embrace sooner than later isn’t one of the most well-guarded secrets. On occasions, this keenness is so obvious that Indian leaders are put into an embarrassing position. Their deeply entrenched and firmly pursued policies do not allow them to respond enthusiastically to Pakistan’s continuous overtures with any degree of enthusiasm.
They keep on asking our government to do more if it really wants India to respond with reassuring benevolence. One of their known demands is that Pakistan should plead guilty of having sponsored Bombay attacks through its not unknown non-state outfits and actors. Soon they will be demanding a unilateral declaration on the part of Islamabad that Kashmir issue stands resolved, and it will not even be mentioned again either in any interactive dialogue or on any international fora.
I do not want to go into the argument whether MNS will be prepared to accept this precondition as a vital CBM, but all indications are that India isn’t in any kind of a hurry to resume the so-called peace process. Soon after the news came that MNS and Manmoham Singh would be meeting in New York on Sunday, there has been this meaningful incident of Indian soldiers dying in a terror attack in Occupied Kashmir.
Let us keep our finger crossed!
