President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov signed a decree on sending the military contingent of the Kyrgyz Republic to participate in peacekeeping activities on the territory of Kazakhstan, his press service said.
In accordance with the decree, it is decided to send the military contingent of the Kyrgyz Republic to participate in peacekeeping activities for a limited time period in order to stabilize and normalize the situation on the territory of Kazakhstan.
Note that the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) made a decision to send collective peacekeeping forces to Kazakhstan on the basis of a statement by President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in connection with threats to national security and the country’s sovereignty.
Earlier, on Jan. 7 the Kyrgyz Parliament gave permission to send the military contingent of the Kyrgyz Republic as part of the collective forces to participate in peacekeeping activities in order to stabilize and normalize the situation on the territory of Kazakhstan.
Kyrgyzstan plans to send 150 military personnel, 8 armored vehicles and 11 vehicles. Kyrgyz peacekeepers will be involved in ensuring the protection of objects of strategic importance.
