It is unfortunate that the decline that set in the hockey and squash of this country refuses to go away. Time was when Pakistan ruled the roost in both hockey and squash. What a pity that we have hit Rock bottom now in these two sports and despite best efforts of the concerned sports authority in this country no visible improvement in international ranking can be seen.
It is in the evidence that right from 1948 upto late 199our boys used to reach the victory stand in almost every major international hockey tournament.
The Indian hockey team has also declined during this period but the difference between Pakistan and Indian hockey team is that while we continue t to grope in the dark the Indians have been able to restore their lost international position to some extent there is no dearth of competent international hockey players with a lot of experience to their credit. They must join their heads dig deep into the problem and find out the reasons as to why is hockey team not finding its feet. The same goes for squash we have not yet produced again the likes of Khan brothers of Nawa qili.
