There is a growing concern in the Nation over the hesitation of our rulers to express any noticeable concern over the alarming allegations that the top MQM leaders have since long been receiving substantial financial support from the RAW.
Somehow an impression has taken roots in the minds of all the patriots of this country that even the act of registering a case against Altaf Hussain and company of Dr. Imran Farooq’s murder was designed only to go through the motions of a legal formality. The top leaderships of both the PML (N) and the PPP haven’t ever been interested in carrying out a serious and meaningful exercise of accountability against arguably the most excessively charge-sheeted person on our political landscape.
The latest example is the ‘casual’ nature of the manner in which our FIA had approached Sarfaraz Merchant for probe into his disclosures of money-laundering involving Altaf Hussain.
Even though Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has acted promptly to direct the FIA officials to address Sarfaraz Merchant’s reservations, the record of our probes into the crimes of this nature involving high-profile names isn’t very encouraging.
One can only hope that for once our rulers can set aside their petty expediencies and act in the cause of national interests.
