In accordance with a preliminary estimate, in 2021, the GDP of Uzbekistan at current prices amounted to 734.58 trillion soums and, compared to 2020, increased in real terms by 7.4%. The GDP deflator index, in relation to 2020 prices, amounted to 113.6%, the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan said. In 2021, GDP per capita at current prices amounted to 21.04 million soums (or, equivalently, US$1,983) and, compared to 2020, increased by 5.3%. At the end of 2021, in the structure of produced GDP, the gross value added of the production of goods amounted to 418.93 trillion soums, the service sector – 262.49 trillion soums, and net taxes on products – 53.16 trillion soums. When calculated in US dollars at the average exchange rate for the reporting period, nominal GDP amounted to US$69.23 billion (for 2020 – US$59.88 billion).
In 2021, GDP growth accelerated to 7.4% against 1.9% in 2020 and 5.7% in 2019. At the same time, the GDP deflator index increased to 113.6% after 111.6% in 2020 and 117.9% in 2019. In 2021, GDP per capita growth in real terms amounted to 5.3% against a decrease of 0.1% in 2020 and an increase of 3.7% in 2019. Gross value added created by all sectors of the economy amounted to 92.8% of the total GDP and increased by 7.5% (contribution to GDP growth – 6.9 percentage points). Net taxes on products in the structure of GDP amounted to 7.2% and, compared to 2020, increased by 6.7% (contribution to GDP growth – 0.5 p.p.). A positive contribution to GDP growth was made by the sectors of agriculture, forestry and fisheries – 1.0 p.p. (in 2020 – 0.7 p.p.), industry – 2.2 p.p. (in 2020 – 0.2 p.p.), construction – 0.4 p.p. (in 2020 – 0.6 p.p.) and services – 3.3 p.p. (in 2020 – 0.3 p.p.). Due to the growth of net taxes on products, GDP increased by 0.5 p.p. (in 2020 – 0.1 p.p.). At the end of 2021, slight change where noted in the sectoral structure of GDP. Thus, the share of industry in the sectoral structure of GDP (GVA) increased from 27.5% to 27.8%, while the share of agriculture, forestry and fisheries decreased from 27.1% to 26.9%, the service sector – from 38.7% to 38.6%. The share of construction remained at the level of 2020 and amounted to 6.7%.
At the end of 2021, agriculture, forestry and fisheries showed positive growth rates at the level of 4.0% (in 2020 – 2.9%, in 2019 – 3.1%). The positive dynamics in this industry is due to the growth of livestock by 4.1% (in 2020 – 2.1%, in 2019 – 1.6%) and crop production by 3.1% (in 2020 – 3.2%, 2019 – 4.8%). In the industry, an increase in value added by 8.7% is observed. The positive dynamics in this industry is mainly due to the growth in the value added of the mining and quarrying industry by 10.7% (in 2020 – a decrease of 22.0%, in 2019 – a decrease of 0.6%) and the manufacturing industry by 8.2 % (in 2020 – by 7.9%, in 2019 – by 6.6%).
