1761 suspicious power connections were seized during January 2022: IESCO Chief

ISLAMABAD, February 2: IESCO Chief Executive Dr Muhammad Amjad Khan said that during the month of January 2022, IESCO’s operation, M&T and surveillance teams caught 1761 suspicious electricity meters during the checking. 1710 meters were found to be sluggish, direct supply of electricity was being taken from 49 meters while electricity was being stolen by drilling holes in 3 meters. Concerned consumers have been fined 22.22 million for stealing electricity from slow meters and other miscellaneous sources by charging 1,142,178 units and applications have also been filed against 55 persons in the concerned police stations for legal action. IESCO management has requested consumers to join IESCO in this national campaign and report power theft and its supporting elements to the relevant SDO office, helpline 118 or IESCO complaint and monitoring cell Islamabad on Phone No. 051-9252933 so that action can be taken against these hostile elements.-PNP
