DERA ISMAIL KHAN, February 4: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) Friday barred Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) from holding public rallies meeting in Dera Ismail Khan (DI Khan) on Feb 5 and 7th.
DI Khan District Election Commissioner wrote a letter to District Returning Officer (DRO) and District Police Officer (DPO) in this regard. JUI-F wants to hold a rally for its candidate Muhammad Kafil Nizami. As per the letter, no meeting or rally should be allowed in the constituency on such dates.
Earlier in the day, ECP Dera Ismael Khan issued a notice to Maulana Ziaur Rehman, a civil servant and brother of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, to explain why his picture was printed on the material used in electioneering in the recently held local bodies’ polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

According to details, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja has also ordered to deport Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur from the district. Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) member of National Assembly (NA) Yaqoob Sheikh has also been directed to pay 10,000 fine. Earlier in July 2020, Sindh government had appointed Zia-ur-Rehman as Deputy Commissioner Central Karachi. The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) government had accepted the demand made by JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman and gave Zia-ur-Rehman an important post. -NNI
