l_105479_063127_updatesDELHI: New Zealand overcame Sri Lanka in their Group A match of Women’s World Twenty20 at Delhi on Tuesday, ARY News reported.
Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to take guard.The island-nation managed just 110/8 in their 20 overs. Only three of their batswomen managed to score in double figures.Dilani Surangika was the top scorer for her team as she scored 37 runs from 31 balls while Yasoda Mendis made 30 runs from 30 balls.Chamari Jayangani made 17 runs from 21 balls.Leigh Kasperek took two wickets for the Kiwis while Lea Tahuhu, Amy Satterthwaite and Suzie Bates grabbed a wicket each for their team.The Kiwis chased down the total of 111 in 15.5 overs with three wickets to spare.Bates scored run a ball 37 runs with four boundaries while Rachel Priest made 28 runs from 26 balls with four fours.
Sara McGlashan made 21 runs with the help of two boundaries and Satterwaithe made 13 runs from 13 balls.Sri Lankan bowlers Inoka Ranaweera and Shashikala Siriwardene took a wicket each.
Suzie Bates was named the Player of the match.
