Rai Muhammad Murtaza Iqbal, Mian Muhammad Shafiq, Kamaluddin, MNA Standing Committee on Ministry of Food Security and Research and Dr Ghulam Muhammad Ali Chairman PARC visiting Thar Desert Field and Coal Mines. M Ishaq Secy PARC and Dr. Younis Arain, DG PARC SAARC Karachi and other senior offcials are also present on the occasion.

ISLAMABAD: An agreement has been signed between Pakistan Agricultural Research Council and Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company for the promotion of desert crops in Thar area. Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali Chairman PARC and Vice President Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company Mr. Muhammad Azhar Malik signed the agreement.
During the visit of the National Assembly Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research headed by Rai Muhammad Murtaza Iqbal, Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council briefed the Members in detail about the Bio saline agriculture initiatives in the desert area of Thar. The NA committee also met with Mr. Muhammad Azhar, Vice President of Sindh Engro Coal Mining Company and visited various fields and coal mines sites. On the occasion, Members of National Assembly Standing Committee on National Food Security and Research, Mian Muhammad Shafiq, Mr. Kamaluddin, Mr. Muhammad Ishaq, Secretary, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council and Dr. YounisArain, Director General PARC SAARC Karachi and other senior officials were also present.
Chairman Pakistan Agricultural Research Council Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Ali said that since 2018, work is being done on arid horticultural crops like Apple Bair, Chico, Lemon, Forage and Cactus in Thar Desert of Pakistan, the results of which are encouraging. – PR
