On the margins of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council (EIGC) meeting in Kazakhstan’s Nur-Sultan, a meeting was held between Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Zhaparov and Chairman of the Government of Russia Mikhail Mishustin.
The press service of the Cabinet reported that the sides discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation.
Zhaparov noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Russia.
“Noting the historical significance of the anniversary date, I would like to note that the Kyrgyz Republic aims to further strengthen relations of strategic partnership and alliance with the Russian Federation. Kyrgyzstan also attaches great importance to issues of integration within the Eurasian Economic Union. This is one of the priorities of our country’s foreign policy. In the framework of chairmanship in the Union, the Kyrgyz side will make every effort to further deepen the integration processes and achieve our common goals,” he said.
During the conversation Akylbek Zhaparov touched upon the issue of Kyrgyz citizens’ stay in Russia.
Chairman of the Russian Government Mikhail Mishustin emphasized that the Russian Federation cherishes the existing strategic relations with the Kyrgyz Republic, based on the centuries-old friendship of the peoples.
“Bilateral trade, economic and investment cooperation is developing dynamically. Thus, at the end of last year, trade turnover between the two countries increased by 47% and approached $2.5 billion. Cooperation in the humanitarian sphere is expanding,” he said.
Mishustin noted that there are prospects for the implementation of joint projects in industry, engineering, electronics, digital economy, green energy and transport.
