Pakistan and India are going to clash in the World Twenty20 cricket tournament today at Eden Gardens, Kolkata in what is going to be the toughest match of the tournament. Traffic is going to stop during the course of this match and cricket fans in the sub- continent would remain glued to the idiot box as long as this match lasts. India had lost its first match of the tournament to the Kiwis while Pakistan had won its first match against Bangladesh so India will be, in a way, under more pressure than Pakistan in this match which is very crucial for it and which it would try to win at any cost.
Undoubtedly India has a better batting line up than us but we have an edge over it in the bowling department. Pakistan cricket team has always been reputed to be the most unpredictable cricket team of the world. It is capable of springing surprise on its day. If our batsmen clicked the way they clicked against Bangladesh last Wednesday and if our seamers bowled to their potential they are quite capable of beating the Indians today. The Indians, in their heart of hearts realise that they cannot brush us aside lightly.
When the English team plays against the Australians in the Ashes emotions run high in England as well as in the Down Under but they pale in comparison to the emotionally charged atmosphere in Pakistan and India whenever and wherever the cricket teams of these two countries play against each other.
The Kiwis this time round are playing much better and they can pose a threat to any team playing in this tournament. If the cricket pundits are to be believed theTwenty20 cup this time round can be lifted by any one of the following teams. Australia, New Zealand, Springboks, Pakistan and India. Cricket is by chance and one cannot ignore the underdogs like England or Bangladesh too. They too can prove the cricket pundits wrong. Let us keep our fingers crossed and pray that the best team lifts this cup though our sympathies would always be with our team.
