– Embassies of Muslim countries in collaboration with NCSW arranged Seminar to promote Women Economic Empowerment

ISLAMABAD. March 4: The Embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, and Turkey in collaboration with the National Commission on the Status of Women (NCSW) organized the first ever hybrid International Workshop entitled ” Muslim Women Pioneers: Leading Economic Growth” here at the Embassy of Indonesia.
The event was a kick start of a series of discussions to share best practices of women’s breakthrough leadership in socio-economic affairs, politics, and policy making in the Islamic world.
The opening session was not only attended by the participating embassies diplomats but diplomats belonging to other Embassies, women belonging to different fields and media persons in large number also.
Chairperson of the NCSW, Ms. Nilofer Bakhtiar, Chairperson of the National Commission for Child Rights, Ms. Afshan Tehseen, Director-General UN, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr.Usman Iqbal Jadoon, and Featuring the Founder, Managing Director of Kashf Foundation, Ms. Roshanay Zafar and four esteemed panelists who joined the event virtually from Jordan, Ms. Huda Ayesh, Dr. Lana H. Bin Said of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Suryani S.F. Motik of Indonesia and 2015 Nobel Peace Laureate, Ms. Ouided Bouchamaoui of Tunisia also graced the occasion.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Adam M Tugio of Indonesia underscored the importance of Education and skill development of women to enhance their productivity and betterment of the future generation. Ambassador Borhene El-Kamel of Tunisia highlighted the importance of the progressive role of women and their contribution to nation-building and shared the audience the experience of women empowerment in Tunisia. Chairperson of NCSW shed light of the idea behind the launching of international workshops and suggested to form a pool of fresh talented women entrepreneurs and arranging their liaison with successful global Muslim women entrepreneurs as the next step endeavor to facilitate concrete implementations.
The workshop focused on promoting the economic conditions of Muslim Women. The esteemed panelists underscored that Muslim Women have made an outstanding contributions to society and on some occasions served as outstanding leaders. They shared their struggle while starting their businesses and explained that how they gained success at a later stage, including Noble Peace Laureate, Ms. Ouided Bouchamaoui from Tunisia.
Chairperson of the National Commission for Child Rights, Ms. Afshan Tehseen emphasised that “If you supports a woman, it means that you supports the entire nation.” Ambassador Ibrahim Al Madani of Jordan concluded the event by saying that, “the inclusion of Women’s economic empowerment should be incorporated as a priority in national development plans.”
Pakistani Women Entrepreneurs also participated in the event and displayed vibrant and colorful works such as handicrafts, handmade jewelry, rugs, paintings, and many more interesting items. Their work and dedication were encouraged and admired by the audience.-PR
