Pakistan faces India today in the T-20 World Cup. It will be an emotion-charged encounter in which each country’s people will believe that their honour is at stake. Of course this kind of thinking is not in harmony with the spirit of sportsmanship; but the historical background of the two nations make it hard for them not to take their contest in a spirit other than mere sportsmanship.
Yet it is a foregone conclusion that only one can win. We in Pakistan earnestly and sincerely hope and pray that Mohammad Hafiz’s boys don’t end up on the losing side. For that they will have to throw away the debacle of the warm-up match against South Africa from their minds. About that match, the less said the better. One hopes not too many experiments are made today, and Kamran Akmal is allowed to bat as an opener.
I am sure Mohammad Hafiz will use today not just his skills but also his brains.
Cricket is a game of both skills and brains.
