LAHORE, March 9: The members of ruling PTI’s disgruntled Jehangir Khan Tareen group held a meeting with Punjab Assembly Speaker and PML-Q leader Pervaiz Elahi and apprised the latter of group’s minus-Buzdar agenda. Reportedly, a delegation of the JKT group called on Punjab assembly speaker in Lahore on Wednesday. The group whose head is currently staying in London for medical treatment has informed the PML-Q leader that the JKT wanted Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar to be removed from his office. “We are in contact with Jehangir Tareen and we are updating him on the emerging situation,” said JKT leader Malik Nouman Langrial. Besides Langrial, the JKT delegation comprises Aun Chaudhry, Lala Tahir Randhawa, Abdul Hayee Dasti and Ajmal Cheema. In the meeting, the JKT delegation and Speaker Elahi discussed political situation and other affairs. “It’s a mutual decision of our group that we don’t accept Buzdar who has let down the sincere activists of the PTI,” Langrial told categorically to Mr Elahi. Mr Elahi, however, tried to pacify him saying that they were assessing the whole situation. “We will decide things after holding mutual consultation with party leaders,” Mr Elahi assured the delegation. There were some media reports that estranged PTI leader Aleem Khan who announced joining the JKT group on Monday was the contender of the Punjab CM slot. He had also expressed his reservations on the governance style of the Punjab government. Aleem Khan left for London Wednesday morning to meet PTI leader Jahangir Tareen. He took a flight from Islamabad International Airport for London today. MPA Rafaqat Gilani, member of ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s estranged Jahangir Khan Tareen (JKT) group from Layyah, said on Wednesday that although the group would not become part of the no-trust move against the government; still the latter should address its concerns. In an exclusive talk with Rohi TV, he said it was unfortunate that those PTI workers who had toiled hard for the party and who were its assets had been sidelined. “We want to strengthen the party. But sadly, we are not being listened to,” he complained. The MPA wondered as to when the government would wake up to the situation and take notice of the JKT group’s reservations. -TLTP
