The statement of Maulana Fazlur Rehman that the possibility of revival of the MMA for the 2018 general elections cannot be ruled out altogether makes sense.A very shrewd politician as he is,may be it has dawned on him that his party might give a repeat performance by forging an election alliance with his political adversary Maulana Sami-ulHaque and the JI in the next polls and succeed in regaining power in the KPK like it did in 2002 elections.Coming on the heels of this statement of the JUI(F) chief, the statement of the chief of the JI that he would try to bridge the differences between the JUI(F) chief and Imran Khan is also very meaningful.Are we going to see a grand alliance of these three parties in the next polls scheduled for 2018?Is QWP of Aftab Sherpao also going to jump on its bandwagon at some point in time in future?Stranger things have happened in the politics of this country in the past.For the moment,however, it looks like a remote possibility but who knows what the future holds for us ?There is no last word in politics.Enemies of yesterday can become friends tomorrow but we must keep our fingers crossed as there is many a slip between the cup and the lip. Ayub Khan too used to take along with him his daughter Naseem Aurangzeb on his foreign tours but he had no intention to induct her into politics of the country.She had been to the White House a couple of times with her father and was seen in group photographs with the American president and the American First Lady.Mian Nawaz Sharif,it seems,has been grooming his daughter Maryam Nawaz for active politics the way Bhutto trained his daughter Benazir.She is photogenic and she speaks English well but these two qualities do not necessarily make you a public leader unless you have in you traits like political temperament, acumen and farsightedness.Politics is an entirely different ball game.Only time will tell whether she proves herself equal to the task which her father appears to have selected for her.
