RAHIM YAR KHAN, March 24: Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Suleman Tahir paid a visit to Chancellor and Governor Punjab Ch. Mohammad Sarwar. He briefed the honorable chancellor about the developments at KFUEIT. He briefed that KFUEIT is a hope to improve the socio-economic conditions in South Punjab. Now, it is one of the leading universities in Pakistan which has adopted a modern university model and its management has evolved new strategies to meet the challenges in higher education and to develop a good educational, research-oriented, innovative and healthy environment for the students. KFUEIT is fully aligned with the educational vision of the chancellor and the Government of Punjab.
He also briefed the honourable chancellor about the recent initiative of KFUEIT to empower women that KFUEIT will provide 100% scholarships to all female students in all Engineering programs. This initiative is an effort to empower the women of the region especially south Punjab. It would be good for female students to prefer engineering as a career. This step will provide them with more opportunities and jobs. In Pakistan, the female ratio is 52% and their participation in the engineering paradigm would create a gender balance and would open new avenues of prosperity for the nation. In the last two years, the number of students has almost doubled. More than thirty new BS, MS and PhD programs were initiated. Under PC 1 Phase II, eight development projects and twelve development projects from the university’s resources were initiated. These development projects include five faculty hostels, three boys’ hostels, two girls’ hostels, a community center, executive club, guest house, commercial market, wastewater treatment, shed for buses, etc. University service statutes were approved and implemented in April 2021. UI International GreeMetric Ranking declared KhwajaFareed University at 234th worldwide, 13th in South Asia and 5th in Pakistan. International TIMES Higher Education Impact ranking (2021) declared KFUEIT among the top 300 to 400 universities worldwide. An increase of 107 percent in the number of students getting scholarships and a 955 percent increase in scholarship amount was recorded. University endowment fund was established. With the support of the Government of Punjab, Twelve new buses were included in the transport fleet. Research publications increased by 111 percent. Its impact factor increased from 500 to 3000. 15 NRPU research grants are approved in 2022. KFUEIT won research grants of more than 350 million rupees. To improve the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities eighteen new student societies were established. KFUEIT students participated in different national competitions and got distinctions. A Business Incubation Center was established. To provide students with all services at one window and to save their time, a ‘Student Facilitation Center’ was established. A bank branch was established on the campus. Under the vision of the government of Punjab, more than fifty thousand plants were planted on the campus. South Punjab Skill Development Institute was established in collaboration with NAVTTC. More than six hundred students are enrolled in different certificate courses. The directorate of sports was established and proper coaching of the athletes was launched. KFUEIT’s athletes participated in different national events and won more than fifty medals. To improve research and collaboration more than forty-five MoUs were signed with different national & international universities or organizations. Recently, the first convocation of KFUEIT was held in which more than 750 students were awarded degrees. Chancellor and Governor Punjab Ch. Muhammad Sarwar appreciated the efforts of the vice chancellor and his team for the rapid developments, good financial discipline, implementation of merit policy and especially 100% scholarship initiative for girls in all engineering programs at KFUEIT. He said that due to rapid growth, quality education, innovative research, good financial discipline and implementation of merit policy now KFUEIT has become a model prototype for other universities in the province. He assured his kind support for the future developments at KFUEIT. The honorable chancellor expressed that he desired to attend the first convocation of KFUEIT but due to some logistical problems he was unable to attend. He hoped that under the vice chancellorship of Prof. Dr. Suleman Tahir will soon become the leading university nation-wide.
