ISLAMABAD, March 29: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said on Tuesday that Prime Minister Imran Khan was ready to show to Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Ata Bandial the ‘letter’, which he (the prime minister) had claimed at Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) public gathering in Islamabad two days ago (Sunday, March 27, 2022) contained a threatening message for him and his government.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad along with Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry, he said that ‘foreign hand’ and the opposition’s motion of no-trust were linked to each other. “The words ‘no-confidence motion’ are clearly mentioned in the letter,” said Asad, adding it also contained a warning that if the motion was not passed, it would have disastrous consequences.
He went on to say that it was possible that PTI members of the National Assembly (MNAs), defecting to the opposition, might have become part of the plot out of ignorance. The federal minister said that former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif and the senior leadership of Pakistan Democratic Movement, an opposition parties’ alliance, were behind this ‘conspiracy’. “If anybody has doubts, we can show this letter to the CJP,” he added.
Asad further said that the letter was received before the date of submission of the motion to the National Assembly (NA). “Presently, the letter is only in the knowledge of civil and military high-command,” he said, and added, “Contents of the letter were directly connected to our foreign policy.” He wondered whether PTI’s turncoats would still support the opposition following this revelation.
Asad further said two to three members of the federal cabinet had read the letter. “Even I, myself, have read it; not once but several times,” he emphasized. He alleged that Nawaz Sharif had recently held meetings with Israeli officials. However, he stopped short of disclosing name of the sender.
The federal minister did not stop here, and went on to say that if required, Pakistan Army would take action for the national security.
Speaking on the occasion, Federal Minister Fawad Chaudhry said foreign conspiracies were not new to Pakistan. “Prior to that, we had received a letter from the European Union,” he recalled.
He revealed that in the letter, Prime Minister Imran Khan had been clearly told where his politics would lead him to. He said he had insisted even before that the government should not allow Nawaz Sharif to go abroad for treatment. -NNI
