The parliamentary delegation of the Kyrgyz Parliament headed by Speaker Talant Mamytov took part in the Solemn meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Commonwealth of Independent States (IPA CIS), dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the organization. The event takes place in Almaty, Kazakhstan, the press service of the Jogorku Kenesh reported.
The meeting was opened by Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko, then the floor was given to the heads of parliaments of the member states of the Assembly.
Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Talant Mamytov read out the message of President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Zhaparov to the participants of the anniversary meeting of the IPA CIS Council.
The message of the head of state notes that over the period of its formation and development, the Commonwealth has contributed to the creation of a common economic, social, cultural and humanitarian space in the region, and the strengthening of new sovereign states. “In this context, the activities of the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly deserve special attention. Today, the IPA CIS takes its rightful place among the inter-parliamentary organizations of the world, the message says.
Also in the message of Sadyr Zhaparov it is indicated that the first plenary meeting of the IPA CIS was held on September 15, 1992 in the city of Bishkek, during which the Regulations were adopted and the organizational issues of the Assembly were resolved.
“Legislative activity, as well as participation in the monitoring of the election processes of the IPA CIS have become significant elements of the democratic development of our countries. The Kyrgyz Republic continues its active work within the framework of the CIS IPA. At the initiative of the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, the project of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly “Children of the Commonwealth” appeared, and the Chyngyz Aitmatov Prize was established. I am sure that the activities of the Assembly will continue to be aimed at the legal support of economic, social and political interaction between the CIS countries,” the message of congratulation says.
