The country is in a grave constitutional crisis; political and constitutional situation has gone from bad to worse what is worrying is the fact that the state institutions aren’t on one page.Next general elections cannot be held before the start of next year and that too if the government and the opposition hit it off on electoral reforms which seems to be a remote possibility at the moment. Without the much _needed electoral reforms, gerrymandering cannot be checked.It is unfortunate that at this point in time when the country needed political stability,it has become a victim of political crises galore. One wonders what would be the fate of this country’ economy during the period leading up to the formation of new government as ever thing would be at a standstill till then.
POSTSCRIPT China is rightly concerned that the next government which might come into power after the general elections might succumb to the American pressure and wind up CPEC.That is the precise reason why a spokesman of the Chinese government the other day issued s statement that Beijing hopes that political situation in Pakistan won’t affect bilateral ties between China and Pakistan.
