ISLAMABAD, January 03: Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday expressed reservations on federal government for not convening Council of Common Interests (CCI) meeting for the last 10 months.
Despite repeated letters by Sindh and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa governments, the meeting of CCI could not be held.
Sources told a private TV channel that both provinces have objections pertaining to federal government’s decisions on gas, energy and other affairs, while the provincial governments are not happy with the federal government for not convening CCI meeting.
“The Sindh and KP governments have raised objections that the decisions taken in Cabinet Committee for Energy despite CCI by the federal government are not constitutional,” sources said.
Sindh Finance Minister Murad Ali Shah while confirming the issue said that they received messages of verbal assurances of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for holding CCI meeting but around one and a half month has passed.
He said that only the forum of Supreme Court (SC) would be left for them if the federal government didn’t convene CCI meeting, adding that they do not want to approach SC against federal government.
