ISLAMABAD, May 12: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan filed on Thursday a review petition in the Supreme Court (SC) seeking the annulment of the April 7 decision of the Apex Court regarding voting on the no-confidence motion.
The Supreme Court had taken a suo motu notice on April 3 against the scrapping of the no-confidence motion by former National Assembly deputy speaker Qasim Suri.
Imran Khan, in his review petition, pleaded with the Apex Court to declare its April 7 decision null and void. “The April 7 ruling has a number of flaws that need to be reconsidered,” the petition reads.
“The Supreme Court on April 7 ordered voting on the no-confidence motion on April 9,” it adds. “During the National Assembly proceedings, the deputy speaker implemented Article 5 of the Constitution,” it states. “The petitioner, who was the head of the government, had nothing to do with the actions of the deputy speaker,” it maintains.-TLTP
