Tajikistan Expands Cooperation with USAID and WTO

Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Population Jamoliddin Abdullozoda met with the US Agency for International Development Deputy Assistant Administrator of the Bureau for Asia Anjali Kaur. The parties expressed interest in expanding cooperation in various areas of health. Abdullozoda noted that the Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population cooperates with relevant US agencies, including within the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry and the USAID for 2025, according to which a number of projects are being implemented.
One of the most successful USAID projects in Tajikistan today is Healthy Mother, Healthy Child. The project aims to improve the health and nutrition of mothers and children under the age of 5 through family, community, and health services in Tajikistan by 2025.
Abdullozoda also met with the head of the WHO European Centre for Primary Health Care in Almaty Melitta Jakab. The parties expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the primary health care sector. Abdullozoda expressed satisfaction with the mutually beneficial cooperation of the Ministry of Health with the WHO. He also informed Jakab about the situation in the primary health care sector in Tajikistan. Abdullozoda noted that since 2010 Tajikistan has adopted a model of primary health care based on the approach of family medicine, and over the past 10 years has paid special attention to the development and strengthening of this sector. – NIAT Khovar
