Warrenton (Virginia, United States) hosted an International Conference on “Tolerant Islam: Consensus Building”. The event was organized by the American Foreign Policy Council. The event was attended by experts and scientists, high-ranking officials from the United States and Muslim countries. Among them is the Chairman of the World Council of Muslim Communities Ali Rashid Al Nuaimi (UAE), former Foreign Minister of Indonesia Alwi Shihab, Director of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute Svante Cornell.Uzbekistan was represented by the Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of Uzbekistan Eldor Aripov. The participants of the event discussed the formation of coordinated approaches to countering international terrorism and extremism. Mr. Eldor Aripov informed about the approaches of Uzbekistan in resolving the situation in Afghanistan.
