Indian media quoting government sources stated that Kulbushan Jadav arrested by Pakistani agencies claiming he was a RAW spy was a businessman who owns a small ship. “Jadav often carried cargo to and from Iranian ports bordering Pakistan and has nothing to do with India’s Intelligence agency,” Indian government sources said. After the news of Kulbushan’s arrest, Indian government had acknowledged that he had served with the navy but denied that he had any connection with the government. Later it said that “there was no proof that the retired navy officer was arrested in Balochistan as claimed by Pakistan, and could have been arrested after he strayed into Pakistani waters. It is a matter of investigation whether he accidentally strayed into Pakistani waters or was lured into Pakistan.” However, it was not explained who lured him into Pakistan.
Anyhow, there are holes in the story, giving rise to serious questions. Why he was using a fake passport with the fictitious name if he was running a cargo business. Secondly, why his parents have been picked up by the RAW? The fact of the matter is that he was sponsoring terrorist and subversive activities in Balochistan. In Islamabad, Indian envoy Gautam Bambawale was summoned by the Pakistani government, and he was informed about Jadav’s involvement in instigating terror attacks in Karachi and unrest in Balochistan. Commandar Kulbushan Jadav (cover-named Hussain Mubarak) got commission in 1991 as a lieutenant in Indian Navy. He was inducted in the Indian Naval Intelligence, and subsequently he joined Research and Analysis Wing (RAW). He is resident of Mumbai and was working for the failure of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He confessed having supported Balochistan Separatist Organizations in Pakistan. He established his network, and it happened for the very first and only time in Indo-Pakistan history that an in-service under cover senior officer of any Intelligence Agency has been apprehended with all proofs. In an operation conducted by Pakistan Navy’s counter-intelligence Security Division south and Inter-Services Intelligence arresting officer of RAW, who confessed he was given two tasks in Pakistan – to support separatist movement in Balochistan and to ignite sectarian violence in Karachi. India has been involved in such vile acts in the past, but this time round Pakistan has incontrovertible evidence, and it is not possible for India to defend the indefensible. Only recently, Pakistan submitted dossiers of Indian involvement in terror acts in Pakistan to the UN and the US, but perhaps this is the first time that Pakistan has a concrete and incontrovertible evidence of Indian involvement in subversive activities in Pakistan.
It is strange that a section of Indian media is giving a twist to the news to show that it was an effort to sabotage the meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif were to have on the sidelines of Nuclear Summit in the US by the end of this month. The world knows about Indian military and intelligence’s diabolical role in Pakistan’s breakup with the full concurrence, rather at the directive, of the then ruling Indian political leadership, happening to be none else but of Congress party. Demonic act of the Indian military apparatus is no more a secret. It is now a meticulously recorded history, penned down pridefully no lesser by various Indian actors personally involved in the vile adventure. Pakistan government functionaries are to blame that they failed in telling the world of India’s involvement in inciting militancy in tribal areas and in instigating insurgency in Balochistan.
Incomprehensibly, while the Indian establishment, along with political class, media and intelligentsia, is always out, working proactively, aggressively and vociferously to put Pakistan on the mat in every forum, Pakistan governments always remained on the defensive. Indian establishment along with its political, media and intellectual cohorts have been unrelentingly squeezing the infamous Mumbai terrorist assault to the last drop to denigrate Pakistan internationally and paint it as the sponsor of terrorism in India. So far as Islamabad hierarchy was concerned, it did nothing to counter India’s vicious anti-Pakistan campaign. It felt shy of speaking out the Indian incitement of separatism in our Balochistan province and Indian intelligence agencies’ vile games in our sensitive tribal areas and country’s other parts. Apart from traditional hatred against Pakistan, efforts are being made to sabotage the CPEC project, which is part of Beijing’s plan to expand its trade and extend its footprint across Central and South Asia.
This will give China easier access to Middle Eastern oil via the deepwater port of Gwadar. Furthermore, Gwadar Port would provide links from the Caspian Sea to the Strait of Hormuz, and enable Gwadar to compete with other regional ports. Some countries are wary of Chinese strategic access to the Arabian Sea and its presence in the region. And it is not acceptable to India. Reportedly, India allocated $300 million to its intelligence agency RAW to sabotage the CPEC project. On the other hand, India has invested heavily in the road-linking project from Afghanistan to Iran’s Chahbahar port to lessen the importance of Gwadar Port; but this investment seems to be going down the drain. India is befuddled and frustrated by the scope of the CPEC that could change the political landscape of the region.
