The arrest of the Indian RAW agent by our intelligence agencies provides a positive proof, if any proof was needed by any one, of the blatant attempts of New Delhi to destabilise Pakistan. There are many enemy countries like India and Israel and many friendly countries too, who simply cannot see Gwadar becoming an international sea port of the first order. Aren’t rulers of some Emirate countries, as well as Oman and Muscat, afraid that, if Gwadar came up as a big sea port in the region, it would upstage their ports which would not be able to hold a candle to it because all international trade to and from China would be routed through it?
Iran and Afghanistan had better keep their eyes open to the covert activities of the umpteen Indian Consulates opened up by New Delhi in these two countries as staff of these Consulates is engaged in hatching up conspiracies for fomenting trouble in Balochistan in order to stymie developmental work in Gwadar. It is our tragedy that we have many Mir Jaffars and Mir Qasims in our midst, who make the task of our enemies easy.
One would have expected that our rulers would react sharply within twelve hours of the arrest of the Indian spy but our Foreign Office took a fairly long time to issue a protest note on it and that too in a low key. It was not commensurate with the sentiments of the common man who expected a diplomatic offensive from it. Why didn’t the Foreign Office jog into action our ambassadors stationed abroad at once? They should have immediately, within twelve hours of the breaking of the news of his arrest, apprised the media of the countries they are posted in, of the true face of the India and shown to them the contradiction in its word and deed. Heaven forfend, our country would be damaged beyond repair if we didn’t bare out teeth to the Indians and told them to stop as enough is enough. Man up, Mr prime minister.
